Tamar Granovsky's father was a serious amateur photographer. In her late teens, he gave her his Rolleiflex to try out. For a few years she roamed the streets of Montreal and Toronto taking pictures with it; she eventually sold the camera and delved into other media. She has a Masters degree in Visual Arts and had several mixed media sculptural exhibitions (solo and group), in Canada, before moving to Boston to study for a degree in Library Science - at which point she left the art world. In 2013 she returned to her passion for art. It is at this point that she shifted from sculpture and printmaking to photography, on which she now focuses full time.
